1. Eligibility Criteria for EWS Quota Certificate

To qualify for the EWS reservation certificate in India, the applicant and their family must meet all of the following statutory criteria specified by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions:

  • General Category: The applicant must belong to the General Category (not covered under SC, ST, or OBC reservation schemes).
  • Gross Annual Family Income: Total annual family income from all sources (Salary, Agriculture, Business, Profession) must be below ₹8 Lakh (Rupees Eight Lakh) for the preceding financial year.
  • Agricultural Land Limit: The family must not own or possess 5 acres of agricultural land or above.
  • Residential Flat Limit: The family must not own a residential flat of 1000 sq. ft. or above.
  • Residential Plot Limit: Residential plot size must be less than 100 sq. yards in notified municipalities or less than 200 sq. yards in non-notified municipality areas.

Keep the following self-attested documents ready before applying at your local Tehsil or Revenue Office:

  • Applicant Aadhaar Card / Voter ID / PAN Card
  • Income Tax Returns (ITR) or Form 16 of earning family members
  • Land / Property ownership records (Khasra/Khatauni or Registry papers)
  • Salary slip or Gram Pradhan / Ward Member Income verification certificate
  • Passport size photograph of the applicant
  • Self-declaration affidavit affirming general category status and asset limits

3. Step-by-Step Application & Issuance Process

1. Download and fill out the official EWS Certificate application form or use our automated tool.

3. The Revenue Inspector / Patwari conducts a physical verification of family income and land assets.
